Felted (limbless) Finn and Jake

Ahh Finn is missing his limbs!!

You know when you start a project and you're really excited then something comes up and you mean to get it resolved..but get lazy..and..don't? Yeah that's what happened with Finn's limbs. I didn't have the right colour for his pants and never got around to getting it. Now I have no intention of finishing it, but figure I post it anyway.

Look at Jake! With all his limbs! Felted! Whooo :P

It's been a long time since I've done an illustration purely for the fun of it. No other motive. Not to learn, not for my portfolio or for work, not a fanart,...just for fun. I should do it more often :)

Playing dress up with your pet, photo-style.

I recently got a chance to illustrate some pet dress up stickers for Aviary! Aviary is a photo editor with over 25 million users, craaazy. I really like the sticker packages. It reminds me of the much fun I had in taking and decorating photos in japanese photo booths (purikura).

Now if only I had a pet...

I love Animal Crossing

I remember the very first time I tried Animal Crossing was on the gamecube. My intial reaction was "Huh. That's all there is to do? Yawn", and yet I kept coming back again, and again, and again... Unsuspectingly addicting! The New Leaf version is the best yet! So charming.

My favorite activites are fishing and bug catching. I love how relaxing this game is, so I wanted to draw a girl chilling on the dock fishing :)

Red Riding Hood & the Police Lineup

Why hello there, it's a new drawing!

Also, I've taken the plunge and put up a new portfolio website!

An entire website name to myself :) A few years ago I checked and a beautician named lillianlai had it, but luckily it became free again.  Check it out!!

I'm no lady

You don't want to mess with her.

This was a lot of fun. I wanted to do a female character, but rather than a sexy bikini girl, I knew I wanted to do more of a female warrior/heroine.

Dress Drawin'

I actually whipped this up for a contest but sadly it did not make the cut. It was a lot of fun to do though. I actually had a lot of difficulty with this because I found it very hard to narrow down ideas and focus on what I wanted. Personally, I wanted a simple dress that I could wear everyday, dress up or down.

Although, sometimes I wish there were days where I could just wear sparkily pretty flowing dresses just for fun :P

Sam Nielson Schoolism Course

So I've also been busy taking the Sam Nielson Advanced Lighting Course (self taught,) at Schoolism.

Overall, I'm really pleased with the course. He covers a nice variety of topics with a great deal of information all in one course. I liked the thorough explanations about how light works along with the painting demonstration. I realized how important it is to know not just how to paint things on a superficial level, but to know how they work in real life.

After taking the self taught, I would recommend taking the course with the teacher feedback if you can afford it. It would have been amazing to get a more indepth critique about your work to see what exactly you personally need to improve or work on from the eyes of an experienced artist.

If not, I would still recommend taking the self-taught course. You can definitely take advantage of looking at all the previously critiqued videos. You could learn a lot from these!

Here is a sample of the work I did. It is not an easy course! (at least not for me). I have so much to learn and do!  :)

Glitch concepts

Here are some more Glitch concepts I designed that didn't make it into the game. There was always an endless amount of ideas for Glitch but sadly, not enough time. Still, it was always a lot of fun to dream :)

"Giant" Shrines (for home streets)

Decorative "Giant" Statues (for home streets)
(I only made the first one, the next two are courtesy of May Tang, another talented artist)

Lucca and Robo, Chrono Trigger

I've been replaying Chrono Trigger, one of my favorite rpgs, and it is still so so good. I played this multiple times years ago and I'm glad it's just as good as I remember! I wanted to do a Lucca fanart because she is my absolute favorite character. She's cute, has strong stats, a smart personality and a tragic backstory. Of course, I couldn't do Lucca without having Robo in there as well :)
